*Liverpool To Make Shock Move For Peter Crouch – Report Could the beanpole striker really be heading back to Merseyside? A British tabloid seems to think so...* Liverpool are reportedly hoping to make a shock bid for former striker Peter Crouch in an attempt to lure the Portsmouth man back to Anfield. The Sunday Mirror claims that Rafael Benitez is hoping to sign the England international for a cut-price £4 million, despite having sold him to Pompey for more than twice that amount less than 12 months ago. The tabloid claims that Benitez is having to work under financial constraints and, with that in mind, he has set his sights on a move for Crouch. The report goes on to say that the Reds feel confident they can make the move happen, as Portsmouth still owe the club half of the transfer fee they agreed to pay Liverpool for the striker. Whether Crouch can be tempted to return to Anfield, however, remains to be seen. Despite a decent goalscoring record during his time on Merseyside, Crouch grew increasingly frustrated at the lack of first team opportunities at the club and decided to leave. He has since admitted that he feels he made the right decision in quitting Anfield and therefore may be in no rush to return.

Last season we see a number of players return to their previous club, the one that sold them in the first place... And funny, most of it involve Portsmouth, Harry or Liverpool... Johnson could be the next one, back to Chelsea... lol

why would crouch go back when he is guaranteed first team at portsmouth?! even though portsmouth is in deep sh!t last season, i believe they will do well with a decent manager

The average ones like Barry, Johnson and Lescott all seem like got people fighting for them suddenly... lol

Can forget about Trevez, Villa or Silva.

i really don't think our financial situation is hurting Rafa's signing of players this season .
It's a different issues .
Our team make money for the club .
The budget of signing was there already at March this year .
Remember that 32 million pounds Rafa was promised ?

Obviously, going for Tevez and other highly-rated targets isn't within Benitez's power. Going for Crouch would inevitably raise doubts about his foresight and managerial abilities.
I strongly suggest Liverpool make an offer for winger Ricardo Quaresma and sell Lucas Leiva.
You need someone quick, accurate and who is able to bring colour to Anfield. Someone who possesses the close control of Lionel Messi, someone who can weave past defenders like Cristiano Ronaldo and doesn't overdo tricks like the latter does.
