Liverpool defender Andrea Dossena is said to be on the verge of returning to Serie A for a reported £6.5 million.
The Italian, who only arrived from Udinese last summer, has largely
struggled at Anfield but will be remembered for his goals in key
victories against Real Madrid and Manchester United.
Despite only making 16 league appearances for the Anfield club last
season, the Italian international is still highly respected in his
homeland and looks set to move to the club who chased him last summer.
Dossena told Tuttosport: "I have talked to Benitez. He is a wonderful
person and has understood my problem. He told me that if they receive
an offer that satisfies both the club and me, he will facilitate my
transfer. I would run to Juve. They showed interest in me last year,
but then Liverpool stepped in and wrapped things up in less than an
hour.”
The 27-year-old, who has struggled to adapt to life in the Premiership
has blamed Liverpool's training methods as a reason for his indifferent
season: “In England they play continuously and the hardest training
session does not last more than 40 minutes, but I need to train longer.
With Genoa also interested, a return to Italy looks a certainty. He
added, "now I truly hope to join Juve and start a new life.”
