Wigan Athletic have finally unveiled Roberto Martinez as its new manager.
The former Swansea boss has taken the role left by Steve Bruce who has joined Sunderland.
The Latics were expected to officially announce Martinez as their boss last week but a compensation fee between the two clubs had not been sorted out.
Now it has, Martinez returns to the club he served as a player between 1995 and 2001.
“I am delighted to be back at Wigan Athletic,” Martinez told the club’s official website.
“As you know I had a great time here as a player and the club has always been close to my heart.
“The club has done incredibly well over the past five years, firstly getting into The Premier League and staying there.
“Last year not only staying there but pushing higher up the table. I want to carry on the good work Steve Bruce did here.”
