Real Madrid legend Zinedine Zidane says the Spanish giants will do “whatever is necessary” to ensure that Franck Ribery is plying his trade at the Bernabeu next summer.
Bayern Munich playmaker Ribery has been strongly linked with Los Merengues, as well as rivals Barcelona and English outfits Manchester United and Chelsea, and Zidane’s former club have been touted as being prepared to break the £70 million barrier for him.
Having already broken the world transfer record – which Zidane had held since 2001 – to bring Kaka to the Spanish capital for £56m ten days ago, Real then bettered that with a staggering £80m offer for Cristiano Ronaldo, a bid which has been accepted by United.
Their excessive spending does not look set to stop with reports they are poised to batter Bayern into submission over France international Ribery.
And Zidane, who is helping recently reinstated Real president Florentino Perez with his summer recruitment drive, has stated the club will pull out all the stops to sign Ribery.
“We will do whatever is necessary so Ribery comes to Real Madrid,” said Zidane in The Sun.
“This is the voice of Florentino Perez and Zinedine Zidane.”
