Robin Van Persie has agreed a new £70,000-a-week contract which will keep him at Arsenal until 2013. Van Persie, 25, has been stalling on a new offer after expressing his concerns about the team not winning a trophy in the past four seasons.
But the Dutch striker (left) has been persuaded to stay by manager Arsene Wenger who is busy reshaping his squad.
After tying up an £11m deal for Ajax defender Thomas Vermaelen, Wenger is now closing in on Bordeaux forward Marouane Chamakh who is his No.1 target to replace Emmanuel Adebayor.
