By now, it is obvious that, as between the big euro clubs:
- there are only a few transfer candidates;
- only a few clubs are rich enough to buy them;
- the clubs are employing many
tactics common in negotiation (ambit claims; flirting with enemy; biding
for time; force hand etc)
It is also clear that:
- Some clubs bid for players just to inflate the price for other clubs (to screw the finances of competitors or force their hand.)
- Some clubs submit bids as a means of psychological warfare, to mindfuck opponent team players.
- Some clubs do not dare to bid until last minute for tactical reasons, or maybe because some cashflows or transfers are pending (eg. ManUtd do not dare to bid yet coz Ronaldo deal has not completed- he has not agreed salary yet!)
Effectively, it is a game of musical chairs, and we can all speculate how it will turn out.
My prediction and interpretation as follows:
- Real Madrid gets David Villa (They really want this guy)
- Barcelona gets Mascherano (Liverpool financial problems mean they must sell), Ibrahimovic (need to sell Et'oo first), Douglas Costa (will choose Barca because ManU got 50p tax)
- Manchester Utd gets Benzema (signed on last day of window)
- Manchester City gets Tevez, Et'oo
There might be a bidding war for Torres and Fabregas. Both may be sold because Liverpool and Arsenal do not have financial muscle to raise wage demands. In particular, Liverpool have severe cash flow problem, which exposures their club players to alot of bids.
