Ribery: I want to leave

Franck Ribery
has told Bayern Munich
that he wants to leave the club and join the new generation of 'galacticos' at Real Madrid.
The France international has been at the centre of a
long-running saga over the past six months, with Real and Premier
League champions Manchester United
chasing his signature.
Bundesliga runners-up Bayern have remained adamant that they will not be selling £30million-rated Ribery, but their star asset has now announced his desire to move away from Germany.
The 26-year-old wants to follow Raul Albiol,
Kaka, Cristiano Ronaldo
and Karim Benzema
in agreeing a big-money, summer move to the Bernabeu, delivering another transfer blow to United.
Sir Alex Ferguson
was thought to want Benzema, but the Frenchman has snubbed Old Trafford
and is on the verge of moving to Spain, and Ribery looks set to do the
same.
"I have made up my mind, I want to leave," Ribery told L'Equipe. "It will be Real or nothing.
"I am waiting to see how things will evolve. Then, I would like to have a talk with Bayern's hierarchy."
But Bayern's general manager Uli Hoeness insists that Ribery's announcement does not alter their stance.
He said: "Franck wants to join Real? That doesn't change anything to us. Real never did us any concrete proposition.
"The Real officials wanted to come to Munich, but we told them it was useless and they should save some plane tickets.
"We don't need their money, and we will keep Franck come hell or high water."

Bayern Munich executive chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge is unconcerned by Franck Ribery
's demand to join Real Madrid.
The France international has stated that he wants to leave the Allianz Arena this summer, with Real eager to make him their latest 'galactico' signing.
But Bayern, who have always remained firm in their desire to retain the services of the talented playmaker, will not waver despite the 26-year-old's demands.
Ribery earlier told French newspaper L'Equipe: "I have made up my mind, I want to leave. It will be Real or nothing."
Rummenigge knows that Ribery remains under contract with Bayern until the summer of 2011 and will not bow to ultimatums demanding a departure.
He told German newspaper tz: "We are very cool on that sort of story, really.
"Personally, I read Franck's statement like that: either Real Madrid or nothing. And our clear reply is: nothing!
"Did one ever see us in haste? We are not worried or making haste. We keep standing firm, Franck will remain at our club."
Real have been flexing their muscles in the summer transfer market, splashing out a combined £180million on Cristiano Ronaldo,
Kaka, Karim Benzema
and Raul Albiol.
It now remains to be seen whether Bayern will resist an outlandish offer for Ribery, especially when the player has stated he wants to move on.

Bayern Munich are considering putting a fine system in place in the wake of Franck Ribery's declaration that he wants to join Real Madrid.
The playmaker is a known target of Real but Bayern have consistently stressed that they will not part company with their prize asset.
Earlier this week, France international Ribery stated his interest in securing a move to the Primera Division giants.
And now Bayern's new director of sport, Christian Nerlinger, has announced that the club could bring in a fine system in order to avoid a repeat of Ribery's declaration.
"The players need to know the borders, so they don't exceed them again," said Nerlinger.
The tougher stance is the brainchild of manager Louis van Gaal, a notoriously tough disciplinarian, added Nerlinger.
"We unconditionally support him in this," he continued.
"We have told Franck clearly that we are building a team around him and a sale is not an issue for debate.
"The topic will soon take care of itself. Franck will stay with Bayern Munich."

U not reading the past few post? I mean if RM decided to stop chasing him like they did for Villa, instead they go sign Silva instead. Then Ribery will have no choice to remain in bayern or join other club who are interested in him like Man Utd.

Franck Ribery has denied he wants to leave Bayern Munich for Real Madrid and insists he doesn't want a "controversy" with his club.
The midfielder was quoted last week as saying he'd made up his mind to leave Bayern with Real Madrid his intended destination, but he told Munich's Tz newspaper on Monday: "I have never said that I wanted to go.
"They were not my words, what I said was misinterpreted. I don't understand the whole discussion. I don't want a controversy with Bayern Munich. I would gladly clarify the situation.
"We have to wait and see if there is an offer coming and then sit down and talk. I do not want to say anything wrong right now.''
Ribery was reported as telling a French newspaper last week: "I have decided that I want to leave. It will be Real Madrid or nothing. I will wait to see how things pan out but I would like to hold talks with the Bayern management soon.''
Ribery also denied suggestions today he missed training sessions over the weekend so as not to jeopardise a move by picking up an injury.
"That is a lie,'' he said. "I have a heel problem and also a blister. I want to get back training as soon as possible.''

The Blues have already brought Ross Turnbull,

to Stamford Bridge this summer.
Ancelotti has confirmed he remains in the market for additions and has outlined his plans to bring in a creative player.
Ribery has been strongly linked with a move away from Bayern, with Real Madrid considered the favourites to land his signature.
Bayern, though, have remained adamant that Ribery is not for sale, and Ancelotti seems to have accepted he may be forced to look elsewhere for reinforcements.
"Chelsea are a strong team, a physical team doing very well," said the Italian, who was unveiled to the media on Monday.
