Manchester United complete sensational Owen deal !

MICHAEL OWEN has agreed terms to join Manchester United.
The out-of-contract striker will take a 50 per cent pay cut for a shock last chance to rescue his injury-plagued career.
United boss Alex Ferguson contacted Owen, 29, on Tuesday and offered him £50,000 a week to join the champions - plus huge bonuses depending on appearances and goals.
But Owen must pass a stringent medical, which could take place as early as today, before United put pen to paper.
A source close to Owen confirmed: "It's incredible that one day Michael was contemplating a move to Hull and now Manchester United have come in.
"This is just the boost he needed and now he is hoping that everything can be agreed."
Fergie's shock move comes after United missed out on Lyon striker Karim Benzema, sold Cristiano Ronaldo for £80million and lost Carlos Tevez.
Owen, axed by England boss Fabio Capello, started his career at United's hated rivals Liverpool.
He became a free agent two days ago after his contract ran out at Newcastle. But not in his wildest dreams could he have imagined Fergie would come in.
The only clubs being seriously linked with him were Stoke and Hull, while Everton were said to be weighing up their options and Greek side Olympiakos flatly denied any interest.
Owen's agents have tried over the years to get Fergie to bite and he has refused. But he showed a flicker of interest in January and decided to wait to see how the summer transfer market unfolded.
United have bought centre-half SEAN McGINTY, 16, from Charlton for £500,000.

I always hope United would go for Owen one day and now it looks like its going to happen... I think Owen with his experience in the box will help alot especially now...
And If he stays injury free, he will be a great signing... Playing in the big 4 could renew his confidence all over again... He could be United's new super-sub... And he will also help to increase the English quota in the United squad... lol
Last season, I had hope Fergie could have bring him to United when it was mentioned that he has a $11m buyout on his contract... Now even better, he is Free... lol.

He would have been a perfect super sub for Pool with his history and all that... As they needed an able second striker but not a first team player... And he would have help their English quota as well... lol
Lucky ah ben didn't sign him...

Anyway i hope this isnt a sign of desperation. The last time when he signed henrik larson, there was no one left on the transfer market.
granted, we won the league but this time the squad is even thinner.
the thoughts of rooney getting injured, which he usually does before a world cup, means we got NO ONE LEFT to score goals except berbacock.

If Owen doesn't get himself injured, and if Owen can regain the magic he had ten years ago, then, yeah, Fergie got himself a really good deal.
But right now, if his recent form is of any indication, those are pretty big 'ifs'..... note that Owen has to clear the medical checkup first before Man U would even dare to commit themselves.
And frankly, I'm pretty sceptical that he's gonna clear the FFI fully.

He was good when he was younger.
Past few years, he was really struggling.
This is a small gamble that SAF can afford to take given the spare cash he has from Ronaldo's sale.
Who knows, maybe playing with better teammates might spark something in him.

Lol he will be fighting place with Manucho if he really comes to Man Utd. Still, i doubt SAF wants to sign him considering their age policy thing, i think he will look into Aguero instead.

in another angle, maybe clearing the team of T&R, gives the youngsters opportunity to show what they can do. Players like Kiko and etc will be given more minutes.
I am always for youth players to get minutes to expose them, and make them wiser.
with the market as it is, there aren't any MU die-hard world-class players to be signed. All going to La Liga.

age policy thing only when they needs to buy, Owen is free agent so I think it doesn't comes into play.. SAF may still buy Aguero..
