
Barcelona have played down stories linking veteran defender Carles Puyol
with a move to cash-rich Manchester City.
It had been speculated that City could turn their attentions to the 31-year-old stopper should they miss out on Chelsea captain John Terry.
However, Barca have rejected sugesstions Mark Hughes' side have tabled a bid for Puyol, who has spent his entire career with the Catalan giants.
The European champions have stated no bids have been made for Puyol and that it has not entered the club's thought process that he could be sold this summer.
Puyol's Barca tenure has been scattered with
success having helped the club win the title three times, the UEFA
Champions League twice and Copa del Rey
once.
