MADRID - Sevilla have signed Ivory Coast midfielder Didier Zokora from Tottenham Hotspur on a four-year contract, the Spanish club said on their website on Wednesday.
The 28-year-old, who joined Spurs from St Etienne in 2006, will compete in the Champions League next season after Sevilla qualified with a third-placed finish in la Liga.
The Ivory Coast international made 87 league appearances for the White Hart Lane outfit, helping the club win the League Cup in 2008.
“The truth is that we have to be happy for all the club’s fans, we have to thank the president and the board for the effort put into the signing,” Sevilla sporting director Rodriguez Monchi told the club’s official website.
“Zokora was our primary objective for this year. We have closed the deal, not without making an important effort.
"We hope it will be worth it, we think he is worth it."
