After expressing concern about the massive spending occurring all over Europe, Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez is set to make a move for Franck Ribery.
According to The Telegraph, Benitez is planning a €46 million move for Ribery, who has attracted the interest of Real Madrid all summer. However, Los Merengues seem to have run out squad places, if not money, thus ruling out a move.
The story appears to have some credence, on the back of news that leading British bookmaker Skybet have dramatically slashed the odds on Ribery joining Liverpool, just as they did the day before Michael Owen joined Manchester United.
However, Bayern Munich have remained adamant in their refusal to sell Ribery for anything less than an enormous sum, even though the French international has reportedly stated his intention to leave.
This news will no doubt raise questions about the futures of Xabi Alonso and Javier Mascherano. Liverpool want to keep the pair, but their tight budget means Benitez - who has already splashed more than £17 million on Glen Johnson - will have to sell before making another big buy.
Problem is, do Liverpool has 46million to spare?
i wonder... not longer the american owners have decided to sell their stuff back in the US. Will the cash be ready ? Maybe based on their decision, the banks decide to grant them a loan, possible?
I am a Liverpool fan , but i am not so impressed with this speculation .
The chances of him joining Liverpool = 0% .
Rafa had stated last night , he felt crazy with the transfer market that is going on .
I not too sure Liverpool going to dip into their pocket for a crazy transfer demand from Bayern Munich .
compromise w RM on alonso sale, sell him say 20-20m pounds. arbeloa can sell him for 8-10m. what about the dutch player? no club bids for him? can sell him for 10-12m though.
the rest, borrow from the bank to fund the purchase. like what RM does, heavily in debt now. also purchases are all in instalment these days, like immediate downpayment and the rest pay for a few seasons.
thought chelsea is desperate to buy him? money is no object for roman.
Liverpool have to sell to buy.
Rafa do not get along with french, so dun think he would want this guy.
Once it is on the news, the price will be jack up.
He is having control of buying the players but he have bought any players yet that can score goals.
