Skysports.com understands Birmingham have tabled a bid for Rangers midfielder Barry Ferguson.
Birmingham boss Alex McLeish
has targeted a move for the former Gers captain as he looks to bring in an experienced midfielder to bolster his ranks.
Ferguson is expected to leave Ibrox this summer following his involvement in the Scotland boozegate scandal in April.
McLeish is a big fan of Ferguson having worked with him during his time in charge of Rangers and Scotland and he is keen to push through a deal.
Rangers are thought to be close to agreeing a fee with Birmingham for the 31-year-old and Ferguson is expected to travel to St Andrews
for talks and undergo a medical ahead of a return to the Premier League for the former Blackburn man.

Barry Ferguson's Rangers career moved closer to an end when the Ibrox club on Wednesday evening accepted a bid from Birmingham City.

Ferguson, 31, will discuss terms with the Premier League club managed by his former Rangers and Scotland manager Alex McLeish.
It was reported that the bid is worth around £1million, rising to £1.25million with add-ons.
If terms are agreed, Ferguson will return to the top flight in England four-and-half years after a spell at Blackburn Rovers.
And if the midfielder leaves Rangers, he will follow Brahim Hemdani, Christian Dailly and Graeme Smith out the Ibrox door this summer.

Midfielder poised to complete Birmingham switch

Barry Ferguson
has moved a step closer to joining Birmingham after passing a medical, skysports.com understands.
The Rangers midfielder underwent a medical on Thursday after Blues agreed a deal with the Scottish champions earlier this week and the former Scotland international came through with flying colours.
Ferguson was widely expected to leave Ibrox this summer after he was fined and stripped of the Rangers captaincy last season for a breach of discipline while on international duty.
Blues boss Alex McLeish
made Ferguson one of his top transfer targets as he looks to bolster his midfield options for next season.
Ferguson is now discussing personal terms over his contract and he is expected to finalise his switch to St Andrews
in the next 24 hours.
