Rapid Vienna 1-0 Liverpool FC

Liverpool looked lacklustre and tired as they fell to a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Rapid Vienna in Austria on Sunday evening.
Playing in front of a packed out Ernst Happel Stadium, Reds boss Benitez again experimented with the side playing a mixture of youth and experience.
Javier Mascherano came on as a second half substitute, amid rumours all summer linking him with a big money move to Barcelona.
It was a sluggish performance by the Reds though, with several failed frustrated efforts in front of goal and idleness at the back which must be addressed.
German midfielder Steffen Hofmann got the game’s only goal half way through the second half when he impressively and accurately curled in a free-kick in from just outside the Reds area past Peter Gulacsi in Liverpool’s goal.
Liverpool now travel East for a mini-tour of South East Asia where they will play Singapore, but first, Thailand in an evening friendly in Bangkok this coming Wednesday, 22nd July.

From Yahoo:
"I was at this game, I saw what went down and Rafa fielded 5 regular
players in each half while Rapid played their full strength side. This
was a match in celebration of Rapids 120th birthday celebrations... no
proper defending or attacking, pretty boring really... Liverpool
arrived in Vienna at 3:30 pm played the game at 7pm then flew directly
after the game to Thailand... A sporting gesture by LFC to accept to
take part in this game."

I also dunno
, Benitez every season confirm sign like 3-6 youngsters, how to keep track rofl.
Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez has explained Glen Johnson's omission from his squad for the pre-season friendly defeat by Rapid Vienna.
The £18million summer signing from Portsmouth was not involved in Austria as the Reds were undone 1-0 thanks to Steffen Hofmann's free-kick.
England right-back Johnson
was sidelined by an Achilles injury, but Benitez
is confident he will be back in action soon.
The Spaniard told the club's official website: "He has a small problem with his Achilles tendon
but it is not serious.
"Him not playing was a precaution."
Despite the defeat, the Anfield boss was impressed with the displays of Spanish youngsters Daniel Ayala
and Daniel Pacheco.
He added: "I don't like to talk too much about individuals but both players were doing well.
"They're both young and when they come with the first team you always want to see something different.
"I am pleased for them and also with Jay Spearing
because he played as a left full-back as we have some problems in this position at the moment."

Hi, moron. How are you? Now 11pm, go to sleep. Tomorrow have to go to the special school I found for you. Be good ok? Listen to the teacher, although now you in Primary 2 only, if you study hard you can finish P6 in 10 to 15 years. Dont worry, be happy!
Its only a friendly, and we lost to an austria team, its okay.
