  Manchester City to increase offer for Everton defender Joleon Lescott to £18m - and double his wages

  

  Manchester City boss Mark Hughes will make a new £18million bid for Everton centre-half Joleon Lescott - and sweeten the deal by offering to more than double his wages.

  An initial £15m bid was turned down by the Goodison club but City insiders say that Lescott is still on their 'hot' list - whether John Terry signs or not.

  And City will flex their muscles by dangling a £100,000-ayear contract to the former Wolves defender. According to pals, Lescott is desperate to join City and the latest offer may see him kick up a fuss if Everton boss David Moyes refuses to let him go.
