Arsene Wenger is seeking to brink Salomon Kalou across London to join Arsenal.
Having lost Emmanuel Adebayor, the Ashburton Grove outfit are in the market for a striker, but will not pay over the odds for anyone.
However, according to the News of the World, the Gunners believe they can snare Kalou for a price of around £7 million. The Ivorian's contract expires next summer, so Chelsea might be keen to cash in on him now.
Carlo Ancelotti has previously stated that he wants Kalou to remain at Stamford Bridge, but the fact that he has not yet been offered a new contract suggests that all offers will be considered. He currently earns £45,000 per week, and Arsenal are ready to improve that to around £70,000.
A 'Chelsea insider' was quoted as saying, "Salomon is flattered by Arsenal's interest, but at the moment he is fully committed to Chelsea."
i did rather arsenal go for pete crouch. whose strong pts are what arsenal weak at, that is heading the ball into the net.
arsenel has roscicky and walcott, sagna, to provide the crosses. they need someone to finish them off.
paid 45k only now?? hmm then sure will go one lah
We shall see how...
7m is again a cheap price for Arsenal...
Chelsea should sell more since he got the potential, but Kalou is disappointing in the pre season.
But Arsenal hardly plays high balls... Their strength is speed and one touch and these are mostly on the ground... This Kalou has speed and is quick with his feet... He probably would fit in better to Wenger's playing style... And he left only one year to his contract so maybe Chelsea might have to sell or lose him for nothing if he doesn't want to stay back...
