Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has revealed he is interested in Fulham defender Brede Hangeland.
Hangeland
enjoyed a superb season with Fulham last term helping them qualify for
Europe and his performances have not gone unnoticed by a host of sides.
Fulham boss Roy Hodgson
has admitted he is facing a fight to keep hold of the Norwegian with Arsenal strongly linked with a move for the giant stopper.
Wenger admits he is the market for a new defender after seeing Kolo Toure
leave for Manchester City
and Philippe Senderos
expected to move to Everton.
The Gunners boss has conceded he is tracking Hangeland, but insists no bid has been lodged to Fulham.
"We had a look at him, but we have not contacted Fulham, have not contacted Hangeland and have not made our choice on him or anybody else," noted Wenger.

Fulham manager Roy Hodgson has admitted Arsenal's interest in defender Brede Hangeland is 'a source of worry'.
Gunners boss Arsene Wenger revealed his admiration for the centre-back on Thursday but confirmed no contact has been made to the Cottagers.
Hodgson has regularly stated he wishes to keep the Norway international at Craven Cottage, and a new contract is said to be on the table.
However, the experienced coach concedes they could struggle to keep Hangeland, although he stressed any agreement is a long way off.
He said on Sky Sports News: "When a bigger club is interested or connected with one of your players, of course it is a source of worry because Brede is a very important person for us.
"I sometimes have admitted to being interested or admiring certain players, but that doesn't necessarily mean you are always going to go and sign them.
"Because to sign the player would first require the club taking contact with us and then making certain everyone was happy with any deal that could be struck.
"I think we have got a long way to go before that happen."

they do have the money...after the sale of Toure and Adebayor, right?
ya, i do believe wenger have enough cash on hand to land this fellow. i guess, 13-15 will be enough?
sometimes i also dont know what happen. BOD say Aw has 30million. and AW say he dont have that money.
sick and tired of AW. arsenal is a big club. big club is all about winnning trophy. nobody remember whether you play beautiful football 20 years later.
nowonder player that henry, toure, or even fab would left the club.
Wenger has become a prudent manager these last few years after having already won the title... Probably we can say he is on a new project like, he doesn't want to spend too much but only enough... And he is always on the lookout for good young players as well as those whose contracts are running out so they won't cost that much... Like Kalou and now Marouane Chamakh of Bordeaux. He has his plans and he seems to like being given the chance to have full control of how the clubs develops... Seeing his young team coming through probably gives him more pleasure than winning? And should they manage to win it, I guess you can say he will have double satisfaction...
He is now like a rich man who doesn't really care if he earns more each year as he has already made enough... He just want to do it with some class and style... We can say he is like doing some experiment with Arsenal as his vehicle...
i think so. the only loser is the arsenal fans. seeing clubs like chelsea and man utd who won 3 title in a row really hurts!!
