Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp admits he would welcome Ashley Young in his squad but expects Aston Villa to keep the England winger unavailable for transfer.
Redknapp has been linked with the 24-year-old, who earned the PFA Young Player of the Year award after his performances last season and could solve Tottenham's problems on the left flank.
"Everybody would like to have him but I don't think there is a chance we would get him," Redknapp said after the 3-0 pre-season win over Olympiacos.
"He's a fantastic player and Aston Villa do not want to sell him, I don't think he's available."
Redknapp is also an admirer of Celtic midfielder Scott Brown, although the Spurs boss does not expect any more arrivals ahead of next week's Barclays Premier League opener against Liverpool.
