Italian football authorities have introduced a new away day fans passport this season.
“All clubs must guarantee the provision of a ‘fan passport’ to those who put in a request for one,” explained Home Office Minister Roberto Maroni.
“By December 31 every area of the stadium must activate preferential ‘fast lanes’ for those with the card.
“For those who do not possess a card, they will be subjected to more rigorous security checks. We hope these coercive methods can overcome the unreasonable resistance some clubs have to adopt the fan passport.”
The Government’s plan includes barring entry to away games for those who do not have the identity card.
It aims to create a group of “official fans” to begin regulating the organised ultras movement.
