Tottenham are chasing Chelsea winger Joe Cole.
The Sunday Mirror says England midfield player Cole is in the last year of his contract and as yet has not agreed a new deal.
At 27, he is, in his words, approaching the best five years of his career. That career was interrupted by a serious knee injury suffered in January in an FA Cup replay at Southend. He is progressing towards fitness but insists he will not be back until he is 100 per cent ready.
The comeback is being monitored by Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp. He knows Cole well. He signed him at West Ham and gave his debut when he was only 17.
Redknapp wants to bolster his squad before the transfer window closes at the end of the month and Cole is high on his wish list.
