Robinho is delighted with the new steel Manchester City boss Mark Hughes has added to his squad.
"What is encouraging is to see the team being built from the back this season," said Robinho, who lines up against Portsmouth at Fratton Park today.
"When you build a house it is a must to start from the foundations and this summer you can see how much effort the boss has put into dealing with this.
"We have signed two of the best central defenders in the country and that gives the attacking players confidence. When you know you have players like Kolo and Joleon behind you, you feel confident and it allows you to play your game.
"You can have the best attacking players in the world, but if the foundations are not there you are going to find it very hard to be successful. It was a long transfer for Joleon, but he expressed his desire to be here and now he can get on with what he does best."
