Monaco FC have completed the free signing of Barcelona frontman Eidur Gudjohnsen, the French club have announced.
Gudjohnsen
had long been linked with football away from the Camp Nou after
expressing his dissatisfaction over his peripheral role at the Catalan
club.
The Iceland international has now penned a two-year contract with Monaco, where he will wear the club's No.9 jersey.
The
signing of Gudjohnsen finally ends Monaco's quest for a striker after
their bid for Steve Savidan collapsed because of a cardiac condition.
The
former Chelsea man, who joins Monaco on the same day as Mathieu
Coutadeur, has become the first Icelandic footballer in the history of
the club.
