COMEBACK KING ... Jamie Carragher
Carragher and his Liverpool team-mates were hammered after losing two of their first three league matches. It was a familiar script at Bolton on Saturday as they twice fell behind before a late Steven Gerrard goal gave them a 3-2 win.
Rafa Benitez's men pulled off the same trick several times last season - notably against United, Manchester City and Middlesbrough.
In fact they gained 22 points from losing positions last term, more than any of their Big Four rivals. And defender Carragher, 31, reckons it shows the character that will be needed if they are to end their 20-year wait for the title.
He said: "We have taken a bit of criticism and rightly so because we haven't made the best of starts. "But no one can ever write us off. Ourselves and Manchester United, not just in this league but probably anywhere in the world, are the best at coming back from deficits and winning games.
"At Bolton, the lads showed what great character we have. "It was so important to get those three points, especially with the international break coming up."
Carragher formed a new ]defensive partnership with Sotirios Krgyiakos at the Reebok and admitted it was a tough start for the £2million signing.
Carra said: "He came in and did well for us. It was a baptism of fire as Bolton away is one of the toughest places to go. "He won his aerial duels with Kevin Davies and he's probably one of the most difficult opponents in the Premier League."
Meanwhile, Benitez has told Liverpool fans that £20m midfielder Alberto Aquilani will be worth the wait. The former Roma star, 25, is still recovering from ankle surgery and is unlikely to appear until October at the earliest. But boss Benitez is happy with the way the Italian is progressing and feels Aquilani will help the Kop forget about Xabi Alonso, who joined Real Madrid for £30m last month.
Benitez said: "When Alberto starts to play, everyone will see what a clever player he is. "He is improving. We were talking about six to eight weeks out but he had a scan last week which showed he is much better."
Benitez also reminded the Liverpool faithful they managed without Alonso at times last season - and can do so again. He said: "We won a lot of games last year without Xabi. He is a good player but he decided to go and we need to concentrate on the players who are here."

The sent off is yet another controversial decision....
the matches which liverpool played in more or less involved an opposition player being sent off- which resulted in them comin back to win
No. 1 comeback kings well im not sure about that
im sure they are no.1 talk cock kings
when did they become comeback king.
why so proud being a comback king? and not a team who leads from start to end? -.-
