Liverpool have become the latest club to be put under scrutiny for signing of a youngster.
The Reds have been accused of stealing Max Clayton from Crewe Alexandra and face a bill of about £1million of compensation for his services.
Crewe’s football director, Dario Gradi, said he felt Liverpool were bullying his club.
"The big clubs are stealing other people's players and you worry financially for the clubs the players are stolen from,” he said.
"What sort of compensation are we going to get for all the work that has gone into developing him? Any compensation is insignificant for the effort that's gone in."
Gradi also hinted that an official complaint could be made to the FA in regards to the handling of the situation.
Liverpool are being linked with Crewe Alexandra youngster Max Clayton.
The Daily Mail says Liverpool were dragged into the poaching row engulfing the Barclays Premier League, following claims from Crewe director of football Dario Gradi that a Premier League club had made an illegal approach for one of his academy players, believed to be Clayton, 15.
Gradi said: "He is an outstanding player by any standards and he has come in and told us that he wants to leave right now to join a big club.
"The big clubs are stealing other people’s players and you worry financially for the clubs where the players are stolen from. It’s so hard to protect your players. All this goes against the morality of the game — it’s the rich robbing the poor."
Crewe have not lodged a complaint with the FA and are reluctant to name Liverpool for fear of damaging the relationship between the clubs.
Liverpool declined to comment and it is still far from certain the player will move clubs.
Looks like every dog has its day..
Liverpool have not approached Crewe Alexandra youngster Max Clayton, it has been revealed.
The Sun says Crewe are up in arms because the Reds have been watching their 15-year-old midfielder Clayton.
They are furious at the prospect of losing him to the Anfield club once he turns 16.
Liverpool will not comment on Gradi's claims. They have not approached Clayton and have not broken any rules by scouting him.
If they did sign him, a compensation tribunal would probably award Crewe around £250,000. But Gradi reckons he would be worth at least £1million if they can hang onto him for another year.
uhm if Pool tio ban from buying new players,
i tink tat will be gd as it indirectly force them to use their youngsters to play..
this is 1 tink RB really nv do..
sign lotsa youngsters(which they term as promising) den nv play them & ended up all been loan out..
tink this will be gd for those big clubs mah..
this seems a chance for the "smaller" clubs to get back at the major clubs.
so all transfers concerning youngsters are digged up for checks.
ya.. and ah ben will have an excuse to say if they didn't make it again
