  Man City defender Toure refused to break Ramadan for derby

  Manchester City defender Kolo Toure refused to break Ramadan for Sunday's derby defeat.

  Muslims are not supposed to eat or drink from dawn to sunset during the month of Ramadan, which finished yesterday.

  City's backroom staff did not put any pressure on the club captain to do otherwise.

  While Toure insisted last week that the lack of food and water on matchday would not affect his performance.

  He said: "It doesn't affect me physically. It makes me stronger. You can do it when you believe so strongly in something.

  "A normal human can be without water for much longer than one day."
