Gary McAllister is being linked with a job on Portsmouth's coaching staff.
The News says the former Leeds and Liverpool midfielder has been targeted by Blues boss Paul Hart in a bid to help turn around the club's fortunes.
McAllister, who was a player at Leeds when Hart was the academy director at Elland Road, would add much-needed experience to Pompey's coaching set-up.
The Blues are still without an assistant manager after Brian Kidd left in the summer to remain in the north of England.
It is unlikely McAllister will be Pompey's new number two, though.
