Real Madrid 'keeper Iker Casillas has been voted the World's Best Goalkeeper in 2008 by the International Federation of Football History & Statistics (IFFHS).
The shot stopper, who played a major part in Spain's victory in the European Championships last summer, finished some distance clear of rivals Gianluigi Buffon and Edwin van der Sar.
The IFFHS asked a wide range experts from 85 countries to nominate their top four goalkeepers, with points awarded on a scale whereby the top-ranked 'keeper would receive four points and their fourth-ranked shot stopper received one point.
The top 10 ranked 'keepers were as follows:
1 - Iker Casillas: 249 points
2 - Gianluigi Buffon: 170
3 - Edwin van der Sar: 143
4 - Petr Cech: 108
5 - Igor Akinfeev: 23
6 - Jose Francisco Cevallos: 21
7 - Julio Cesar: 18
8 - Pepe Reina:15
9 - Jens Lehmann: 13
10 - Justo Villar: 12
can hardly be disputed.
k
He is quite mistake prone. Only thing good abt him is his quick reflex.
Last time Buffon is very good but now I think his reflex has degraded, below Casillas.
Cech is good but when comes to coming out for high ball. He can be quite unconvincing sometimes.
buffon was really good-in the past
why no foster in the list?

Cech is not the same after his head injury skull. probably affect his nerves and affected his motor-neuron skills. he was the best goalie before his injury.

Buffon is only 31. if he can play till 40, he still has 9 years of top class football in him.
4 - Petr Cech: 108
5 - Igor Akinfeev: 23
Imba! Difference is like 80 points....

I dunno how come lehman is in the list lol. the points ratings are not an accurate reflection whether they are good or not.
they should implement a rating systems for, number of saves made (2 points given), man of the match (10 points), penalty saved ( 5 points), and point blank saved ( 4 points). then tally them up to see which goalie is the best.
for mistakes they made, give them a demerit points, like a howler that led to a goal (5 points deducted), miskicking (3 points), conceding a penalty kick (6 points) and so forth.
Casillas deserves it.
If you put buffon in front of real madrid's defence (which is non existant) he will concede more goals than casillas.
I remember last season, liverpool won madrid 4-0 or something, and casillas got the man of the match.
Cheers to him..
he's really gd..
