Gerrard: wants a league winner's medal.
The Liverpool skipper has played 494 games for the Reds, scoring 123 goals, and could play his 500th match away at Lyon next month.
He said: "It's something that I'm really proud of, to be getting close to 500 games for Liverpool. "Growing up, it was always my dream to play for Liverpool and I'd have been happy as a kid kicking a ball about if I only got to play one game for the club, so to have got to 500 games will mean a lot to me and my family and friends."
Gerrard, 29, could soon overtake Reds legend Kenny Dalglish, who made 515 appearances for the club, scoring 172 goals and winning 19 pieces of major silverware.
The England ace said: "When the people above you on the list of appearances are people like Kenny Dalglish then it's special to be in that kind of company.
"Kenny is a legend — one of the greatest footballers of all time — so to have played for this club as many times as he has would be extra special.
"But Kenny won league titles, European Cups and every other kind of honour in his Liverpool career and that's what I want too for myself and for this team.
"I don't just want to play games, I want to be a part of a Liverpool side that is in there winning prizes, year in and year out."
and the waits continue..
but he have all excluding EPL right? ![]()
wasted wasted.
he's a talent, he dont deserve to be in this shit.
Stevie dun have a World Cup and Euro Cup medal.
He got Cup Winners, UEFA cup, charity shield, League Cup, FA Cup, Champion League Cup and the cup against Singapore.
He is smart, world cup is what he want.
i feel so sorry for home-bred scousers like carragher and gerrard, they do not deserve so much nonsense mainly from the owners and partly, ah ben..
stevie, fernando, javier, jamie are world class players.
they dont deserve this surely.
of fernando's ability, what does andriy have to tag with him?
why is javier partnering a shit in the middle?
why stevie have no brillant style of support from both his left and right flanks?
this liverpool squad is still far from the nearest point to perfection.
if the top of mount everest is the nearest point to perfection, then rafa and gang are still at the bottom, havent even started climbing.

i totally agree with you man. but sometimes torres and gerrard are lazy.. mascherano and benayouns work arte is superb though
i dun think gerrard is lazy
remember when he could run box to box?
its more like benitez telling him to stay up so they can counter attack if they get the ball.
so it is frustrating to see gerrard just standing there, not doing anything, all because the manager told him to.
hmm yeah maybe.. i miss the 04/05 - 07/08 seasons. gerrard was really superman scoring from everywhere. maybe now he has torres to share the burden. lets just hope aquilani can improve the team

i wont deny that yossi is good. he can really create impact at times. but what im hoping to see is good communication, brillant forsight, beautiful footwork from the team.
but right now, i doubt any of that had been achieved.
it's really saddening you know..

agreed to a certain extent.
from what i have notice, stevie doesnt do what he does in the past.
what i saw in those days was a steven gerrard full of energy for every single game, and every tackle he made look determined to get the ball. can sense his passion, his love, his determination, his leadership.
but now, i can hardly sense any. somehow, im having that kind of feeling that he's thinking, "aiya ai lai mai sua".
i dont know was that intentional or part of rafael tactics.
as for fernando, the only game i see him applying pressure on all 4 defenders was the game against utd last season.
liverpool seriously lacking that creative spark, and right now, beside gerrard, which is not enough, no other liverpool players can do the job.

Liverpool finally look like a Premier League force. Their stunning
start to the season has propelled them into contention after several
years as domestic also-rans.
Captain Amazing Steven Gerrard is, of course, the heartbeat of their surge, as they go toe-to-toe with Chelsea.
However,
it could all have been so different. The England international may have
reached these heights years ago had he managed to force his way to
Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea bid £20 million for him in 2004 and
then £32m in 2005, at which point Gerrard handed in a transfer request,
leading to outrage on Merseyside.
The botched Gareth Barry move
from Aston Villa to the Reds had similar undercurrents. Martin O'Neill
thinks Barry is best to stay put and Gerrard certainly believes he was
right to stay at Anfield.
"It's only as you get older though that you realise how important playing for Liverpool is," he admitted.
"You cannot grasp that when you are setting out, so maybe that is why I look at things a bit differently.
"Looking
back, I'm pleased how I have reacted. From the bad tackles and sending
offs, to all the talk of a Chelsea move, which I regret getting
involved in, and the own goal in the cup final.
"Without the setbacks, I don't think I'd have achieved as much as I have."
Now, he'll want to come full circle by pipping the Blues to the Premier League title.
