Liverpool are trawling the Spanish market for January signings.
The Reds board will make £12 million available to manager Rafa Benitez for the January market, says the Daily Mail, and several emerging Spanish players are under review.
Athletic Bilbao pair Javi Martinez and Fernando Amorebieta are under consideration along with Athletic Bilbao's 16 year-old sensation Iker Muniain.

i agree....n liverpool youth coach is still quite new, n the previous one sucked....
look, u see the rest of the big four, each of them have this niche that made them champions in the recent years. Arsenal has its successful youth policy, Man United has a old fox who can get the best of his kids, while Chelsea has plainly money to buy players w/o a flinch...wat abt our beloved Liverpool? to be honest... nothing much to boast abt....
he buy le also nv play them..
its for show only..
wad for..

that's the thing with benitez...he buy then dun use...or when he realised that when the situation is dire, then he realise he got no gd back-ups in either squad players, reserve team or even the youth team, whr he could have use the money to spend on some established players( no nid to be stars) that can help stablise the 1st team....
rafael doesnt have good foresight in the market
Sell all the players including Gerrard, Carragher, Mascherano, Agger and top up abit of money to buy the whole spanish team please...
Torres, Reina, Riera is already there, so no leave them alone!!! Damn!
well at least he was the one who spotted lucas

maybe, just maybe, not enough leh..
i don't even know if Liverpool can even hold up to Jan or not.
http://www.mirrorfootball.co.uk/opinion/columnists/john-cross/Rafa-Benitez-must-stop-hiding-behind-Hicks-and-Gillett-and-start-taking-Liverpool-forward-article183301.html <- a good read.
Rafa Benitez bought himself some time and patience by winning the Champions League in his first season.
But Liverpool fans are an incredible bunch for sticking by Rafa ever since, showing loyalty beyond compare in the Premier League. They are magnificent supporters.
You hear this argument that Benitez has only had £12million net to spend during his reign at Anfield. That is some defence, bearing in mind that Benitez seems to thrive on a boom-and-bust philosophy.
Buy one dodgy full back, sell him and get another. Andrea Dossena was bought for £7million, given the number two shirt and has now been relegated to 38 after the arrival of right back Glen Johnson.
Now, who's fault is that?
Then you have Xabi Alonso, one of the best midfielders in Europe. Benitez falls out with him, sells him and buys in Alberto Aquilani, an injury prone Italian who has yet to make his debut because he's, er, injured.
Is that good management? No.
Every summer, Benitez's revolving door transfer policy rarely shows much sign of building on the foundations of Reina, Carragher, Gerrard and Torres. Yes, he's added Skrtel, Johnson and, er, Lucas.
It's little wonder that George Gillett this week openly questioned Benitez's methods. Shame him and the other half of the American comedy act have made such a complete mess of running the club themselves. People in glass houses, George...
But this has to be a pivotal season for Rafa. I'll be honest, I wanted Liverpool to win the title last season. I think it would have been good for the Premier League.
Manchester United were worthy champions in the end, but it's great to have competition. United will be pushed all the way this season. But by Chelsea and not Liverpool.
Benitez has proved to be a good manager. But after that Champions League glory, we thought he was going to be a great manager.
Only Liverpool fans with all their loyalty and passion for their club could defend him quite so vigorously.
But Liverpool fans deserve more and it's time that Benitez stopped hiding behind that net spend and the ownership issues and got on with pushing the club forward.
Otherwise he might lose the backing of those amazing fans.

he doesn't have much choice right??
going for established players, and he will get blown out of water, with big blue sharks circling.
already, we heard Hughes having the green light to spend more in Jan. that already sent shivers down all EPL managers' spines.

and after the torres success, he is more keen to splurge like 10+m on a single player
(keane 20m, johnson 17m, dossena 7m)

cannot be so definitive yet.. at least shud give 3 seasons to see la...but it's not wrong to sae he's turning one..
It takes Alonso a few seasons to get it right.
But, his vision is world class and irreplaceable.
Although it is not fair to compare Lucas with Alonso, he did not fulfil any role of attacker, holder, defender or provider.
So, it is not really a good time to have a weak midfielder in the center if Liverpool want to win the title.
As for Ah Ben, it is time that he have enough experience in the BPL and show his magic.
Or else show him the door.
