Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has clashed with goalkeeper Ben Foster, it has been revealed.
The Daily Star says Ferguson blamed his out-of-sorts goalkeeper for allowing Kenwyne Jones to score during last Saturday's 2-2 Premier League draw against Sunderland at Old Trafford.
It was the latest in a line of high-profile mistakes the 26-year-old has made.
Foster has officially been left out of the England squad because of a chest injury, but his form and confidence have disintegrated this season, when he has covered for the injured Edwin van der Sar.
bye bye liao
i think his confidence really v low after some of the defeats...

Anyone remember the following?
Taibi
Bosnich
Barthez
Van Der Gouw
and now Foster.the list goes on.
Although they had one of the best keepers of all time in Schmeichel
actually i don consider barthez as a flop even though he is very eccentric. hes quite good actually.
speaking abt Taibi..
i can still rmb his wonderful lobang against Southampton game tat ended 3-3..

this is the reason why foster cannot make it.
watch it
actually he wasnt too bad when he was playing for one of the lousier sides when on loan.. maybe its more of a psychological problem of being unable to cope with the pressure of playing for a top team where the slightest mistakes becomes magnified.
so this time what brand of hairdryer Fergie used ? Braun ?
football is a funny old game .
Win games ? Forwards earned the credit , lost games goalkie to be blamed .
Got heard won games and MOM is 'keeper ?
Forward can missed sitters for 9 straight games , and in just one goal that won the match , he's an instant hero .
'Keeper can kept a clean sheet for 9 straight games , and in just one blunder that cost the match , he's a villain for sure .
a goalie should contribute at least 10 pts per season...manu shd be lucky if foster doesn't give away 10 pts...

well, EDS was the key to a rock solid defence last season and hence Foster had a ghost on his shoulder.
Unfortunaely, for Foster, he was found to be lacking and hence got blasted.
Remove Foster, and put Reina,U think the score is different?
yeh time is running out. maybe some keepers are just not suited for the big time.
you can't expect a keeper plucked from Watford to excel as soon as he arrives at Man U
everyone has to start somewhere, dont you agree?

Gotta agree.... skill-wise, he's not all that bad.... he played pretty well under no pressure with Watford.
But with Man U, he realizes that whatever mistakes he makes will be punished. And because of that, he becomes a kan cheong spider prone to dumb mistakes at the worst times.
While it's human to be kan cheong, the lack of ability to control his own nerves is a liability. Especially when Tomas Kuszczak has a similar skill level but with a much better control of his own nerves.

There are many examples of good young keepers or old ones that came from a non glamorous side and have done well.
Van Der Sar came from Fulham.
Casillas was handed the permanant real madrid goalkeeper position when he was like 18. Nothing can beat the pressure of that.
Besides, Foster is not just "some" keeper. He was watford's player of the season in the same season they conceded a lot of goals and got relegated. Previously one of the top contenders of the championship player of the season. Shows a lot about his real potential.
what he really needs is to keep a lid on his nerves. Something he's not been able to do despite the numerous chances given by fergie.
I guess the best thing for him is to either go to a less pressurizing club or go back to number 2 goalie for more exposure and training to stand pressures first.
He probably have that David James syndrome... A good keeper buy can't take the pressure of the spotlight being placed on him every minute he is on the pitch... Same goes with that Blackburn keeper Paul Robinson as well... The good thing is VDS is back for the next game so even if he is drop, it will still look normal. But had Kuszczak start the next match, it will be seen as he has fail big time...
Now they should send him away in Jan to another club for more playing time and to gain more experience...
United were lucky they didn't lost 6 points recently because of him alone... He should thank Owen and Evra for saving 4 pts back... And if we look back, it was also his mistake that lead to the Burnley goal too... This keeper still cannot lah...

Van Der Sar came from Juventus to Fulham, he won the UCL at Juventus..
MU tried to sign him then but lost out. (Sorry, As Alpha pointed out correctly, he won at Ajax, not at Juventus).
Hope MU can sign this Julio Cesar guy..
