Actually I rather they go for Igor Akinfeev. This guy have got very little exposure to many people but yet he is rank highly... He became Russia no1 keeper at the age of 20 only and has continue to be their no1 despite different managers coming in... He is currently only 23 so can play for a long time... The only down side to him could be his height... at 1.85, he isn't the tallest around...
Julio Cesar is 30, a little taller at 1.88
Petr Cech is 1.96
If there is anything Iker Casillas proved, it is you don't need to be very tall to be the best keeper as he is only 1.83... Shorter than Foster by 0.05 who is 1.88... But then again, Spanish league and English league a lot difference... English league got a lot of high balls into the box and defenders and strikers are more aggressive going for the ball in the air...
The top 10 ranked 'keepers were as follows:
1 - Iker Casillas: 249 points
2 - Gianluigi Buffon: 170
3 - Edwin van der Sar: 143
4 - Petr Cech: 108
5 - Igor Akinfeev: 23
6 - Jose Francisco Cevallos: 21
7 - Julio Cesar: 18
8 - Pepe Reina:15
9 - Jens Lehmann: 13
10 - Justo Villar: 12
If i am not wrong. VDS won the champs league while at Ajax Amsterdam. That was the era in which they had players like Seedof, Kluivert, De boer twins, etc.
He did not do well at Juventus. (in fact he was considered a flop) thats why he went to Fulham.
Even then how do you explain Casillas? It is not easy being thrown the first team keeper position at age 18. It is even harder when it is Real Madrid you are playing for.
Originally posted by iceFatboy:well, EDS was the key to a rock solid defence last season and hence Foster had a ghost on his shoulder.
Unfortunaely, for Foster, he was found to be lacking and hence got blasted.
Remove Foster, and put Reina,U think the score is different?
err reina is good. how could you compare foster and reina

well, Foster is supposedly good too, he was going to be England #1, and MU's #1 too. My point is, with EDS in the club, when Foster made mistakes, he was easily compared to and hence got blasted.
