Horror show: John Barnes couldn't get Tranmere winning
John Barnes has been sacked as Tranmere Rovers boss after leading the team to just two League One wins in 11 games.
The Liverpool legend and assistant boss Jason McAteer are both leaving with immediate effect. The pair joined Tranmere in June with high hopes but leave the club sitting in 22nd position.
Physiotherapist Les Parry has been placed in temporary charge assisted by reserve team manager Shaun Garnett in preparation for Monday's home game against Stockport County at Prenton Park.
Chairman, Peter Johnson said: 'Unfortunately results have not gone our way this season and we are at the wrong end of the table.
'We must now focus on finding the best possible candidate to help us climb the division.
'I urge all supporters to get behind Les, Shaun and the team on Monday night when we play at home to Stockport County.'
