Real Madrid president Florentino Perez is ready to smash the world transfer record again on Manchester United star Wayne Rooney.
Having splashed out £80 million on Cristiano Ronaldo, Sport says Florentino now wants Rooney and is ready to sacrifice Gonzalo Higuain and Karim Benzema to land the England ace.
Despite seeing his £200 million outlay come to nothing in Europe this week, Florentino will spend big again this summer - with Rooney the top of his shopping hitlist.

I think at most they can only buy 1 big name player next season cos they are already in debts and getting kick out early this season in the CL will see them earn lesser as well... So I don't think they can afford to spend like last season...

I don't think the Glazers had anything to do with Ronaldo leaving... It's all left to Fergie to decide and Ronaldo wanted to play for his dream club. In the end, Fergie agree to let him go after keeping him back for 2 yrs... They had an agreement and he kept his side of his promise. The Glazer left everything to the management, they don't interfere...
One thing Rooney has that some of this generation's bunch of players do not have, is gratitude, respect, maturity and loyalty. He will not leave for Spain.
Well, Rooney seems to be very happy being the current hero of Man U.

and this whatever director has no brains.What madrid need is dedicated footballing professionals with a heart for football and Real madrid,who wants the club to be good.They have the best players,what they lacking in is probably good backroom staff where the manager is the key who should oversee all coaching matters.All these won't happen until the top mgt of madrid wakes up and realise the problem lies in whatever ppl thats not on the pitch itself.Cause these players are actually the easiest lot to control if u have a manager who is respected by the team,they are just down the pitch following instructions and inject a magic or 2.
Real Madrid have launched a bid to prise Wayne Rooney away from Manchester United.
AS says the United star is the No1 summer target for Real president Florentino Perez and negotiations will begin at €70 million.
While accepting a deal is remote, Florentino and Real GM Jorge Valdano are counting on Rooney's new contract talks to give them an opening.
The England ace's current deal expires in 2012 and his minders are keen to open negotiations about an improved agreement to 2017 before the World Cup.

Calderon said: 'It seems that it's an obsession for the president to go for Rooney. I imagine Manchester United wouldn't like to lose a player like him.
