Walking away: Steven Gerrard's Liverpool future is in doubt after a poor season on Merseyside
Real Madrid want Liverpool to drop their valuation of Steven Gerrard as they try to finalise a move for the England midfielder.
The Liverpool captain insists he will not make a decision on his club future until after the World Cup but Real are pressing to put a deal in place.
Liverpool are reluctant to sell the 30-year-old but know he is not happy with the club's progress. And if he insists on going they want close to £30m.
Speaking after England's draw with Algeria on Friday, Gerrard reportedly told Spanish media: 'It is possible that I'll be in Madrid next season. I'm aware of the club's offer so maybe we'll see each other in Madrid. I can't say anymore. 'I'm just concentrating on the World Cup. My agent is looking after it all.'
Real believe Gerrard is overpriced and have inquired about Roma's Italy international Daniele de Rossi as an alternative. They expect to pay about £20m for Gerrard but could be in for some hard bargaining.
Barcelona, meanwhile, have rekindled interest in Gerrard's clubmate Javier Mascherano.
