Asanda Cele, 14, was allegedly killed by a neighbour irritated by the sound of his horn after the World Cup hosts beat France in their World Cup first-round match, police have now revealed.
The Manchester United fan was shot twice in the head and once in the arm, and died of his injuries at a hospital in Durban.
A neighbour has now been arrested and charged with murder, though released on bail until next month.
Asanda’s mother Nontobeko, a nurse at the hospital where the boy died, said: ‘My son loved soccer. He would always be blowing his vuvuzela, whether his team won or lost. My neighbour didn’t like vuvuzelas and the noise they made, and I think that’s the reason he killed my son.’
The instrument was found next to Asanda’s body.
Police spokesman Captain Thulani Zwane confirmed the neighbour’s arrest and charge, adding: ‘The suspect told us when he saw the victim he thought he was a robber and subsequently fired at him.’

lol!
such an "excuse"
But I admit, the vuvuzela really can test ones patience. If that was the reason.. obviously the neighbour lack that patience.
What chiu expect when you drive another fella up the wall.....?
Well, the sound of a vuvuzela is no grounds to kill a boy.
But that said, I have nothing but contempt for retards who try to import that damn trumpet into Singapore.
That trumpet is fucking annoying. I bet the son is a spoilt brat.
Everybody going crazy liao...Killing a neighbour over noise is scary! =X
good, another strong reason for FIFA to not host another WC anywhere in africa ever again.
2010 will be africa's first and last!
Scary what a vuvuzela can do
kaoz....
released on bail for murder charges???
Haters gon' hate.
