Muslim Manchester United fans have been told they must not wear team shirts that bear the club crest because it glorifies the devil.
The warning has come from Malaysian clerics who have declared the club shirts un-Islamic - along with those of Brazil, Portugal, Barcelona, Serbia and Norway, all of which carry images of the cross on their team emblems.
The Red Devils have a huge following in the far east and shirt sales are huge but this has not impressed the conservative religious scholars who want them banned.
'This is very dangerous. As a Muslim, we should not worship the symbols of other religions or the devils,' said Nooh Gadot, anIslamic cleric from Johor state.

He added: 'Even if it is a gift, we should decline it. It is even more sinful when people realise this is wrong and still buy these jerseys to wear.'
Although no fatwa - a religious edict - will be issued against the shirts, Noor insisted those Muslims wearing one ' should repent, repent immediately.'
His view was echoed by another leading cleric, Harussani Zakaria, from northern Perak state who agreed devils should be shunned, not celebrated.
'Yes of course in Islam we don't allow people to wear this sort of thing,' he said.
'Devils are our enemies, why would you put their picture on you and wear it? You are only promoting the devil.'

Aiya, They have been the most popular club in Malaysia for many years already and even the Prime Minister invited them to tour their country not too long ago... Even their last season's summer tour was spent in Malaysia... They were even invited to play a 2nd match after a bomb blast at the hotel the team was due to stay in Jakarta last season...Moreover, Malaysia's Air Asia is one of United's biggest sponsor to say the least... So that stupid cleric was probably a crazy fellow or a Liverpool fan... lol...
Anyway, I don't see any cross on their logo either... If like this, how about the St. George logo? The English national flag? And I bet there must be quite a lot of Brazil, Portugal and Barcelona fans there too... So how?

These people simply cant tell the difference between a religious devil and a "red devil" that is just a "nickname" for a football club. LOL.

It is the silly human who abused the name of religion for meaningless accusation over a logo.
Have they seen the devil themselves ?
If so, they are not as pure as they claimed as they have met the devils themselves.
They themselves should be punished for making contact with the devils.
