Back home: Brazil-born Deco has joined Fluminense
Chelsea may have let Deco leave on a free transfer - but it has emerged that the Barclays Premier League champions secured first dibs on some of Brazil's most promising youngsters as part of the deal.
Deco was released with a year left on his Stamford Bridge contract to sign a two-year with Fluminense earlier this month.
But in return, Chelsea received first options on players from the team who are renowned in Brazil for producing young talent.
Rafael and Fabio da Silva were on Flu's books before Manchester United spotted them as 15-year-olds.
They also produced Brazil Under 17 forward Wellington Silva, who has featured for Arsenal in pre-season and will formally join the Gunners when he turns 18 in January.
Chelsea scouts have been invited to Fluminense's academy in Rio de Janeiro to assess the next generation of stars.
