  Liverpool's Dirk Kuyt could be out for two months amid fears he has torn ligaments in his left shoulder.

  The forward landed awkwardly trying a bicycle-kick in training on Monday ahead of Holland’s clash with Finland.

  After a check-up he flew to Liverpool for further tests.

  Holland coach Bert van Marwijk said: ‘Dirk does that a lot. There was nobody close to him, but this time it went wrong.

  ‘He has strained and possibly torn ligaments in his shoulder. He’ll probably have a few weeks off.’

  Kuyt, 30, scored in Holland’s 5-0 defeat of San Marino in their opening Group E match on Friday and had started the Premier League season well.

  Any absence will come as a blow to Roy Hodgson as Liverpool face Birmingham, Steaua Bucharest and Manchester United in the next two weeks.

  His striking resources are already limited with David Ngog recovering from a hamstring injury and Fernando Torres still not fully fit.

  Meanwhile, Mario Gomez has revealed Bayern Munich blocked his loan move to Anfield.

  Sportsmail revealed Liverpool’s interest in the striker, who said: ‘I took the offer seriously and discussed it with my family because I just want to play. But Bayern gave the impression that they see a future for me.’

  Dirk Kuyt last night dealt a blow to Liverpool boss Roy Hodgson when he was ruled out for up to two months with a shoulder injury.

  Hodgson won a summer-long fight against Inter Milan to hang on to Kuyt, but has now been told the Holland international could be out until November.

  Kuyt, 30, is feared to have torn ligaments in his shoulder when he was hurt during a training session with the Dutch yesterday.

  The winger was injured when he fell awkwardly at the ADO Den Haag stadium as the Dutch prepared for tonight’s Euro 2012 qualifier against Finland.

  Holland coach Bert van Marwijk said Kuyt had “strained and possibly torn ligaments in his shoulder”.

  Kuyt’s injury is a setback for Liverpool and he will definitely miss Liverpool’s showdown with Manchester United on September 19 and the first half of their Europa League group campaign.

  Liverpool will know the full extent of his injury when he has a scan at Melwood today.

  Kuyt opened the scoring from the penalty spot on Friday in Holland’s 5-0 defeat of San Marino in their opening Group E match.

  Liverpool have confirmed Dirk Kuyt will miss the next four weeks with a shoulder injury.

  Kuyt suffered the injury during training with Holland ahead of their Euro 2012 qualifier against Finland, and returned to England for tests at Liverpool's Melwood training base.

  Club doctor Peter Brukner said: 'Dirk has damaged his shoulder at the A-C joint, which is between the collar bone and the shoulder. He is likely to be out for four weeks.'

  The injury will see the 30-year-old miss games against Birmingham, Steaua Bucharest, Manchester United, Northampton, Sunderland as well as the Europa League trip to his former club FC Utrecht.

  Kuyt opened the scoring in Holland's 5-0 thrashing of San Marino on Friday night.

  The £9million signing from Feyenoord in 2006 also has one goal for Liverpool this season, getting the late winner in their 2-1 Europa League qualifier second leg against Trabzonspor.
