Van der Vaart claimed Liverpool wanted him
Van der Vaart completed a last-gasp £8million switch from Real Madrid to White Hart Lane last week and has admitted he was also courted by Liverpool before being lured to north London.
And Van der Vaart, 27, insists he chose White Hart Lane over Anfield because of Harry Redknapp.
The former Real Madrid man said: "Liverpool were interested, but you have to have a good feeling and this manager gave me a good feeling.
And he revealed his international team-mates who already play for Premier League clubs were coercing him to join them.
'They were telling me that I should come to England; now I am going to be playing in England and am very proud he said.
'I am going to be playing against Dirk Kuyt, Nigel De Jong, Johnny Heitinga, so it’s good.'
He added: 'I will give it my best and hopefully I will play a lot of games and will be important for the team.
'I hope to score goals, make good some good passes and give the fans some fun.'
