Besiktas winger Ricardo Quaresma has revealed that his move to Inter in 2008 was the biggest regret of his life.
The
Portuguese moved to the Nerazzurri from Porto, but only managed 24
appearances over two seasons and was loaned to Chelsea in the middle of
his stint.
"The thing that I regret the most in life is going to
Inter," the 27-year-old told FCInternews.it. "At Inter, they took away
my happiness and confidence within myself.
"At a certain point,
they stopped calling me up, and I felt on the fringes of the side. I
cried waking up and going to training."
Quaresma was also puzzled
by former coach Jose Mourinho's decision to stop selecting him, as it
was the tactician that convinced the Nerazzurri to purchase him.
"I
still can't understand certain things that occurred with him
[Mourinho]," he said. "Upon arriving in Milan, I understood that I was
purchased because he wanted me.
"Then all of a sudden, I didn't
play. It is true that I was not at the peak of my fitness, and when I
saw myself on TV, I was unrecognizable.
"The truth is that in Italy, I went through a delicate phase in my life."
