The Dutch are gone, and any sensible person misses them already. Like the Irish, they combine the best of two normally opposite qualities — outrageous drunkenness and unflappable good nature.
They are, however, a bit naughty. You’ll know that if you’ve ever been to Amsterdam.
Here’s a good example.
This poor Ukrainian TV reporter went out into the midst of them ahead of Netherlands/Portugal in Kharkiv and attempted to do a stand-up using the crowd as a backdrop.
It didn’t go well.
But kudos to her for her unflappability, especially after the ungentlemanly chap in the wheelchair took advantage of his low perspective.
