ok, this is wat exactly happened (twice)..

while I was surfing the net then suddenly my monitor goes blank but still got songs playing (as I was listening to the internet radio) so is it my monitor is going to be gone case soon..

Its your monitor.....my monitor used to black-out for moments last time.

We persisted, adapted, got used to it and then it blew up one day in a cloud of smoke.

Q1. when your monitor goes blank, is the light on the monitor still on? what did you do to the monitor to get it back up and running?

Q2. try this simple graphics card diagnostic.

start
Run
type in "dxdiag.exe" without the " " click enter.
If a pop up asks you to use the web to search for drivers, just click yes (ignore if there isnt this.)
An application named "DirectX Diagnostic Tool" will pop up.
click the "display tab"
look and see under the notes columm - it should say "no problems found"
close it.

Q3. How old is the monitor?

Q4. Are there lines on the monitor? for example when you are surfing sgforums, do you see visible stripes like a greenline (other colours maybe)

Q5.

any similar things like the above? & is there recently any message showing u of your graphics card driver stopping ect?

Q6. Last but not least.. is it over heated? monitors that are failing or overheated will switch off. after awhile when it's cool, then it allows you to switch on. + does the screen flicker

Q3) should be very long ago since i acquired this monitor

graphics card problem. if u have similar things like the above should be graphics card failing.

it just happened again but this time when I clicked the mouse once, the monitor comes back to life again..

so we can suspect this is due to the graphics card prob..

ken ken, to add on - i noticed even if I didn't reset my comp or touch anything, the monitor will be back to normal after a few mins..

few more ways to test.

Q1. if you have an computer game, run it, distorted views should be seen.

Q2. if you have that kind of weird patterns, then you must connect the monitor to another cpu and see if these weird images persist

man, i hope its just the monitor prob & not the graphics card prob as its much cheaper to replace the monitor if i'm not wrong..
