  Haha....yeah, the carnard foreplanes give the SU-34 exceptional manoverability for its size.

  Thats quite impressive when you see its size compared to the F-16D next to it.

  Painting this plane almost killed me....its so big!

  It's standard for most aircrafts these days...no?

  And its not like it really needs the probe....the unrefueled SU-34 has a range of 4000km.

  but i m surprised that a bomber uses a navy refuelling type boom, not an airforce type - which is a tube connect to a hole in the plane.

  That type....the boom receiving method is used by the USAF.....it permits large volumes of fuel to pumped into the receiving aircraft compared to the more conventional fuel probe.

  The USN does not use that because boom type is used by only big aircraft like the extender and stratotanker. They can't possibly use those. Last heard they use F-18s to refuel each other using buddy pack system.

  And no one else uses the boom method except the USAF and related aircraft.....eg F-15/16.
