Anna Nicole Smith's family and her former lover Larry Birkhead have decided to resolve their differences.
The judge in the custody case agreed to postpone a hearing until April 20 before ruling on who should have custody of Smith's daughter, Dannielynn.
John O'Quinn, an attorney for Smith's mother, Virgie Arthur, said: "They are going to figure out what they believe is in the best interests of the child and try to get it done."
Arthur says she would like access to her granddaughter and believes an agreement with Birkhead is possible.
Smith's companion, Howard K. Stern, bowed out of the custody fight after DNA tests revealed that Birkhead, a California photographer, was the father of Dannielynn.
The baby has been living in an oceanfront home with Stern, who was listed on the birth certificate as the father.
The former model died after collapsing at a Florida casino on February 8.
