  Downgrade to play downloaded games which is also called homebrew. Meaning that you can download games from the internet and play on your PSP instead of buying a UMD.

  then upgrade.... but nowadays.. ppl all is upgrade no downgrade le..
  cuz the newest pirate version can support more games
  but psp is oso coming up with a system to prevent up/downgrading.

  actually not all homebrew games are pirated....got people make their own games like tetris and stuffs and post in on the internet
