Unbrick your PSP phat or slimImportant: I, nor sgforums shall take responsibility for any damage to your PSP. Care is taken to make sure information here is correct, however no 100% responsibility for that will be taken. Follow the steps at your own risk.
Notes: your new mod here, let me contribute something that people have trouble with =] and save some of your money rather than paying others to unbrick for you. Guide will be improved over time with new releases if any, as well as my own corrections. i will improve this guide as and when i have the time, as of now, i will refer to the readmes provided. do tell me of mistakes
Overview:PSPs brick usually due to corruptions to firmware (flash0) files. This can happen during flashing of firmwares (more likely), or flashing of themes (if you are stupid enough...). These bricks can be solved by the Pandora method, thanks to the promethus team. The Pandora battery will put the PSP into a "service mode", and together with the correct memory stick, a new firmware can be written to flash0, reviving your PSP.
There is another type of brick relating to a corrupted Idstorage. Idstorage is a set of keys relating to the basic running of the PSP, eg running of wifi or UMD. Thus if you screwed your IDstorage, you might find these functions not working. An IDstorage brick is unrecoverable as of 16/12, unless you have a NAND-dump, but unbricking is not 100%. Most people should not be screwing up their IDstorage, so no worries
Items needed:1) Your bricked PSP
2) A working, CFW enabled PSP, preferably 3.xx
3) Your battery, which will be converted to a pandora/jigkick battery (either permanently or temporarily)
4) A Memory Stick
PRO Duo. IT MUST BE A PRO! MSD WILL NOT WORK. Size at least 128mb
5) Your PSP charger for converting your Pandora battery back to a normal one
Files needed: (thanks to qj.net and dark alex for their websites, and of course the creators of the various homebrew)
1)
Hellcat's Pandora installer for 3.xx kernel rev 3 rev 3! steps remain the same, might work on upcoming 3.80
This is for converting your battery into a Pandora one and back, as well as formatting your MSPD into a "magic" one for unbricking.
2)
Despertar del Cementerio v3Think of this as an upgrade to the original "magic" MSPD. It will install 3.71 m33-2 into your phat or slim.
3)
1.50,
3.40,
3.71 eboots.
These are used for writing of the firmwares.
4)
WinRAR if you still don't have it.
Instructions: (compressed as of 16/12, will be more detailed in the future)Steps for PSP used to create unbricking setHellcat's Pandora installer for 3.xx kernel1) Make sure the battery you are using in the PSP is the one you are going to convert to a Pandora battery
2) Using the PSP, format your MSPD with the PSP using System Information > Format Memory Stick
3) Follow instructions in the quickstart.txt file included in the pandora installer rar file. DO NOTE! Stop where the instructions asks you to press O to make your battery into a Pandora battery. NOT YET! We still need the battery.
4) By the end of this section, you should have a normal "magic" memory stick and a NORMAL battery.
Despertar del Cementerio1) Read the readme.txt file. Follow the instructions.
2) Copy the despertar_cementerio folder to PSP/GAME/
3) Copy the 3 eboots to the root of your MSPD (X:\) with the names 150.PBP, 340.PBP, 371.PBP with the numbers referring to the version of the eboot.
4) Run the program, making sure the kernel is set to 3.xx.
5) Remove 150.PBP and 340.PBP if needed, leave 371.PBP
6) Your MSPD is now a "cementerio" stick
Pandorizing your battery1) Now go back to hellcat's installer.
2) Press O to convert your battery into a Pandora one.
3) You are done preparing.
On your bricked PSP1) Place your cementerio stick into your bricked PSP
2) Place your Pandora battery into your PSP
3) Your Wifi and MSPD lights should turn on. If not, you are screwed, read this guide again.
4) You should see instructions onscreen. Press X to install 3.71 m33-2, or O to install the original Sony 3.71 firmware.
5) Wait for the firmware writing to be done, AND REMEMBER TO PRESS X when it's over.
NOTE: On some PSPs, you Wifi and MSPD LEDs will light up, but not your screen. In this case, wait for a while, and follow the button presses on top depending on your choices. Wait until the Wifi and MSPD LEDs stop flashing after a minute or so. When you are positive they have stopped flashing, press X. This might be due to an error not sending an image to the LCD screen.
If you have followed these steps correctly, GOOD LUCK! May your PSP be alive again
Converting your Pandora battery back1) Remove your battery from the PSP you are working on
2) Place your cementerio MSPD into a working CFW enabled PSP, hopefully your unbricked one
3) Connect your PSP to your AC charger, and turn on your PSP
4) Your PSP should be turned ON without any battery.
5) Run hellcat's installer
6) Place your Pandora battery into the PSP. Wait for the Power LED to turn Orange
7) Press the square [] (?) button to convert your battery back to a normal one.
8 ) Format your cementerio MSPD if you need to, but it is not necessary.
--END--
Steps above are chosen to be in my opinion the easiest and fastest way to get your PSP to a high firmware version (3.71 m33-2).
Special thanks to dark_alex, hellcat, team c+d, promethus and qj.net
