  i went thru Basic & Advanced CPR / First Aid and also the BCLS...
  
  though the things in BCLS sounds complicated but after the course, life-saving techinques are learnt.
  
  But, my paramedic friend taught me on how to use the Life-pak 12 defibrillator, but only understand how it works (a bit) somehow.
