Felicia received her first local leading role in the idol drama Let It Shine (Ying Huo Chong De Meng), remembered by most as the drama starring adored Campus SuperStar teens Ng Chee Yang, Teresa Tseng, Renfred Ng, Ng Inn Khim, Adriano Huang and Alejandro Hou.
The 22-year-old is now busy filming her first local lead role in Let It Shine, where she tells us she’s involved in practically every scene. So busy is she that she has been working every day since late October and she hardly has time to speak to her mum! In it, she plays Yoyo, a star-wannabe forced to teach in a secondary school. Working with the young ones from Campus SuperStar turned out to be an eye-opener. She’d just completed her first scene with Ng Chee Yang, who plays Yoyo’s brother Bobo, and Ng Imm Khim, and found both to be capable and smart. “Although it was the first time they are acting, they handle information very well and don’t let stress get to their head. I find it enjoyable working with them because they are confident in their own ways, which I think I can learn from them,” Felicia cooed generously about the co-stars.
Of her role, she has this to say, “It’s a different role… Yoyo’s likeable and hateable too - she has her princessy tantrums. As the episodes go, she changes from being a reluctant teacher to a caring and dedicated one. Coincidentally, before I received this role, I was watching a Japanese drama about a gutsy female teacher and I thought to myself, ‘It’d be so interesting to get a role like this…’ and then my wish came true!
“Some people asked me if I thought my character name Yoyo would appear very much like Chen Liping’s classic teacher character Aiyoyo. I hope the audience will ‘Ai Yoyo’ (Chinese for Love Yoyo) instead!”
