Arsenal striker Emmanuel Adebayor has stated he is considering his international future after receiving death threats on the eve of Togo's win over Sierra Leone in African Cup of Nations qualifying on Saturday.
Adebayor is pushing for the players to be paid monies he claims are still outstanding from last summer's World Cup finals.
He brushed off the death threats to score twice in the 3-1 win, but revealed after the game that he will head back to London to consider his future.
"I am only trying to put certain things right and correct a few mistakes in Togolese football but it appears some people do not like it," he told the BBC.
"Now I am going to go back to Arsenal to think about my future. I have to protect my life and I have a family to look after."
The victory moved Togo to the top of Group Nine, while Algeria beat Cape Verde 2-0 to stay top in Group Eight and ahead of Guinea who beat Gambia 2-0.
Mamadou Niang netted a hat-trick as Senegal beat Tanzania 4-0 to go top of Group Seven. Also in Group Seven, Burkina Faso and Mozambique drew 1-1.
Nwankwo Kanu scored the only goal as Nigeria beat Uganda 1-0 in what was Berti Vogts' first game in charge.
Cameroon maintained their perfect record in Group Five with a 3-1 victory over Liberia.
Carlos Alberto Parreira made a winning start as South Africa coach as Bafana Bafana beat Chad 3-0 in Group 11.
