Arsène Wenger believes the best way for Arsenal to miss out on Champions League qualification is to think it is already in the bag.
The Frenchman looked on frustrated as his side were well beaten 4-1 at Liverpool on Saturday. The result saw Arsenal slip to fourth place behind Rafa BenitezÂ’s side but still well ahead of Bolton in fifth.
However Wenger feels his side are far from assured of a place in EuropeÂ’s top competition and argues they need to fight on for the sake of the coming campaign.
“It is important to finish the season well in order to start the next season well,” he said. “I am up for it.
“Sometimes you are not conscious enough, you think ‘OK we are in a comfortable position’ but we are not. The best way not to finish well is to think we have a good cushion.
“After the game at Liverpool the players realised we won’t get away with it now. We need to put in a different type of performance.”
oh man,why does the boss saying pessimistic things?!
