Jens Lehmann hopes to finally resolve his Arsenal future 'within the next few days'.
The veteran goalkeeper's current contract expires in the summer and the German is understood to want a two-year extension.
Arsenal's long-standing policy is to offer their over-30s just 12-month deals and no agreement has yet been reached with the former Borussia Dortmund shot-stopper.
Lehmann has been linked with a return to the Bundesliga for next season, but is still to make a decision on his future.
However, after holding talks with The Gunners, the 37-year-old feels an outcome to the negotiations is in sight.
"We will see," Lehmann told the club's official website. "I think there will be a decision within the next few days or next week.
"I would like to play here, I have always said I would like to stay, but it is a situation where no decision has been made yet.
"It is difficult to talk about it (now)."
Meanwhile, Lehmann is hoping Arsenal's luck will turn on Saturday for the meeting with Bolton Wanderers, which could play a key role in determining who finishes fourth in the Premiership.
He added: "It is one of the more important ones (games).
"Hopefully we will be more lucky than recently, scoring goals and not conceding, and it will turn out a good result."
